spacer We learn about the world by experiencing it with our senses. In the program, researchers explain that if we want to create a computer that comes close to understanding the world the way we do, it has to be able to see. Viewers learn that the complex process of perceiving and understanding the world is something today's computers are just beginning to tackle, but which HAL did effortlessly.

On the page which deals with vision research, we will offer a closer look at vision systems that are currently being developed and the intended uses for these systems. For instance, we will give more in-depth information about the system which Chris Stauffer is developing at The MIT Media Lab which is able to "see" and sort out details of events that take place outside of The MIT Media Lab throughout the day. We will also supply expert information about the future of this aspect of AI.

As on other pages, there will also be a listing resources directing users to where they might learn more.
