HAL's Legacy

Stanley Kubrick
What would a computer be like in the year 2001? To find out, Clarke and Kubrick consulted experts in a new branch of computer science called "AI" - artificial intelligence. Many of the experts, then as now, were at MIT - the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. AI pioneer Marvin Minsky was one of the advisors on the film. In the film we briefly explore the history of the making of 2001: A Space Odyssey and more specifically the research which Clarke and Kubrick did on the then very new field of AI.
